This is mainly to facilitate an interdisciplinary approach to research through expert guidance. This promotes students to work closely with a faculty/mentor in gaining an understanding of the kind of focused research work. Also, students are encouraged to utilize the program to develop research paper for presentation at an academic conference and/or for publication. General goals are to facilitate close working relationships between faculty and students during the early stages of graduate education, to promote timely degree progress, and to encourage a level of creative scholarship and research productivity that helps prepare students for successful academic careers.

Courses and Activities

We conduct various activities and courses. Take look at a course on Human-System Interaction.

The course has two main goals. Firstly, it gives participants an exposure to issues, theories, principles and concerns relating to human interaction with interactive products. Secondly, participants get to practice the process and the techniques related to user studies, interaction design and usability evaluation. After attending the course, participants should be able to conceptualize, design and evaluate interactive products. Those who are already involved in these activities should be able to improve the quality of their work, and should understand the theory behind what they do. Those responsible for the software development process should be able to make the process in their organizations more user-centered.

Objective Highlights:
To understand the relevance and application of human physical, cognitive, social and affective knowledge to the design of interactive systems.
To analyse the user requirements for an interactive computer system or product.
To understand the influence of context of use on user‐system interaction.
To characterise a range of Human‐Computer Interaction and User‐Centred Design styles and apply these to software and hardware design.
To test and analyse user performance, preferences and experience in relation to humancentred interactive systems.
To acquire a range of transferable skills and the independent learning ability to equip students for future positions in industrial, academic or consultancy environments.
